Apple introduced the iBeacon technology in 2013 and let all the users and app makers know something that is too good for the business. What is Beacon Technology?
The beacon word or process is derived from the past which means to draw the attention at a particular location using some kind of shape or indication. Now come back to Beacon technology, it is a small hardware device which can be integrated into the smartphones mostly like small cheese cubes. These are low-cost, Low-power transmitter and fitted with Bluetooth Low Energy(BLE). This device is capable of delivering a location-aware message or sending signals up to 400 meters (most effective 50 meters). This technology is used to interact with the customers on a location based condition where Wi-Fi or the internet is not available.
How does It work?
To understand the working of the beacon technology we have to consider an example. Suppose your smartphone have an app of a brand which is equipped with the beacon app development. Now you are on your way to someplace and just about pass the store of that brand. When comes in the range of the signal sending capacity of the device the app gives a notification or message even the internet is off. This way the brand can offer you some new exciting deals or just let you know they have something special just beside you. The device lets the app receive the signal when you are in the range and the app can trigger the action simultaneously.
Bothe the tech giants and all time rival Google and Apple have introduced their respective Beacon technology. Google launched its Beacon Standard Eddy stone, after the iBeacon. Apple is still working on the iBeacon 2.0 Trojan horse, so the future of the beacon has a great potential to transform the retail market and smartphone applications.
